From The Oakland Press:

Debut historical kidnaps readers' hearts

December 15, 2002

Charlotte Hastings has recently met James Morgan, The Duke of Girard, so certainly no one is more surprised than she when he announces their betrothal to the other guests at a house party they are attending. Her best guess is that it is some sort of misguided honor on his part, since he had been caught in her bedroom in the middle of the night - uninvited, of course - while attempting to retrieve a package he had hidden there the night before. She'll have none of this engagement. When he insists, to the point of kidnapping her, it's a duel of wits in Sari Robins' fabulous historical romance, "Her Scandalous Intentions."

Charlotte not only manages to escape her kidnapper, she gets in a few painful jabs during the scuffle, and we know she is the sort of spirited, resourceful heroine who will keep us entertained.

James, however, is not the least bit entertained. He is out to catch a villain and he is certain Charlotte is in cahoots with him. Charlotte just wants out of the mess and yearns to return to life as she knows it. She does agree, however, to pose as James' intended until he is able to catch the bad guy.

This is Robins' debut novel and it is a treasure. Although James is a bit pompous at first, we soon see he is an earnest fellow trying to make things right. When he realizes he has misjudged Charlotte, he is truly in anguish and well, you just gotta love a man who can admit he is wrong. The plotting is inventive, dialogue snappy and characterizations are wonderful. This is a book historical romance fans won't want to miss.

From Publishers Weekly:

". . . this will appeal to readers who enjoy steely heroes and strong-willed heroines who give as good as they get."

". . . fans of romance-cum-espionage adventures will take pleasure in the characters' easy banter and daring escapades."

"James and Charlotte spend as much time working together as they do arguing, but their silent caring for one another shines through even when they're at odds."
